The lower bound on the precision of transcriptional regulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The diffusive arrival of transcription factors at the promoter sites on the DNA sets a lower bound on how accurately a cell can regulate its protein levels.

Saturated sliding mode control with limited magnitude and rate

open access: yesIET Control Theory & Applications, 2018
This study is concerned with the sliding mode control design subject to actuator saturation. The actuator saturation is formulated with the rate limitation and the standard magnitude limitation. Both the saturated sliding mode control approaches against the known and the unknown bounded uncertainties are discussed.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Human gesture classification by brute-force machine learning for exergaming in physiotherapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, a novel approach for human gesture classification on skeletal data is proposed for the application of exergaming in physiotherapy. Unlike existing methods, we propose to use a general classifier like Random Forests to recognize dynamic ...

Rating Quantitative and Mapping of Sliding of the Quarry of Ouenza, Algeria

open access: yesPhysics Procedia, 2011
AbstractThe exploitation of iron ore deposit of Ouenza runs into serious difficulties related to landslides. Among the most important events of sliding, we have those of the site “Zerga” including lands located above the ore body “north” of Zerga. The overall area of the landslide is 40,000 m2.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Influence of contact pressure and sliding speed dependence on the tribological characteristics of an activated carbon-epoxy composite derived from palm kernel under dry sliding conditions

open access: yesFriction, 2018
The objective of this work is to investigate the influence of contact pressure and sliding speed on the coefficient of friction and wear of an activated carbon-epoxy composite derived from palm kernel under dry sliding conditions.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Friction and wear behavior of graphite fiber reinforced polymide composites [PDF]

open access: yes
The friction and wear rate characteristics of 50/50 (weight percent) graphite fiber polyimide composites were studied by sliding metallic hemispherically tipped riders against disks made from the composites.
