Mining Effective Multi-Segment Sliding Window for Pathogen Incidence Rate Prediction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Pathogen incidence rate prediction, which can be considered as time series modeling, is an important task for infectious disease incidence rate prediction and for public health.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Optimization of EHA sliding mode controller based on spider wasp algorithm

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu
ObjectiveThis paper proposes using the Spider Wasp Optimization (SWO) algorithm to achieve precise position control of an electro-hydrostatic actuator (EHA) while reducing the parameter tuning difficulty of the EHA sliding mode controller and improving ...

From tumor‐centric to ecosystem‐based hypotheses in brain tumor research and care

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Primary brain tumors, whether in adults or children, present a major challenge because of their dramatic prognosis and the ongoing lack of efficient therapeutic approaches. In recent years, a shift has occurred from tumor‐centric concepts to a more holistic view of these tumors as dynamic ecosystems.

Effects of laser dimple texturing on the sliding wear of friction pairs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In order to reduce the sliding wear of friction pairs under dry friction condition, the surfaces of friction pairs were textured with morphology of dimples using laser etching technique, and the influence of surface micromorphology on the wear rate of ...

摩擦带传动弹性滑动的动力学分析与试验

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2010
Belts are widely applied to various machine.Elastic sliding is one of the characteristics of friction belt transmission, and it leads to inexact transmission ratio and transmission efficiency decreased of belt drive system. In order to investigate ...

Investigation of Wear Behavior in Ni-Ti-SiC Composites Fabricated via Microwave Sintering [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research
The combination of nickel (Ni) and titanium alloy (Ti) with silicon carbide (SiC) reinforcement offers promising avenues for research and applications due to their exceptional resistance to heat, oxidation, and corrosion properties.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Translation rate is controlled by coupled trade-offs between site accessibility, selective RNA unfolding and sliding at upstream standby sites

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2013
The ribosome’s interactions with mRNA govern its translation rate and the effects of post-transcriptional regulation. Long, structured 5′ untranslated regions (5′ UTRs) are commonly found in bacterial mRNAs, though the physical mechanisms that determine ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
