Stability analysis of an earth embankment subjected to rainfall infiltration - Analisi di stabilità di un rilevato in terra soggetto ad infiltrazione di acque di pioggia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the present thesis, an attempt was made to study, with a numerical software, how the rainfall infiltration influences the stresses and the behavior of a soil embankment according to different hydraulic permeability values and rainfall intensities.

Geotechnical and geological investigation of slope stability of a section of road cut debris-slopes along NH-7, Uttarakhand, India

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2021
Slope stability is of significant importance for sustainable development in mining, civil-engineering, and urban planning. This paper attempted to assess the stability conditions of road cut debris slopes along the National Highway-7 (NH-7), Uttarakhand,

On Slip Surface and Slope Stability Analysis

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 1975
ABSTRACT The method of variational calculus is applied to obtain the shape of slip surface and the corresponding normal stress distribution. For a horizontal slope of uniform soil, a logarithmic spiral surface of angle φ is found to be the most critical surface. This contradicts the report made earlier by Spencer (1969).

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Slope stability analysis by using multiple shear strength model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Rainfall-induced landslide is a condition where rain water infiltrates into slope causing additional load and loss of shear strength of soil mass and eventually triggers slope failure. It is difficult to determine by applying conventional slope stability

An integrated approach for rockfall analysis with drapery systems

open access: yes, 2013
The rockfall hazard in mining environments needs to be rigorously managed in order to ensure safe mining operations, in particular when designing portal entries for punch longwalls. The installation of drapery systems is a common practice to mitigate the

Effect of intermediate principal stress on the stability of slopes [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering
The intermediate principal stress (σ2 ) effect is a mechanical property inherent in many rock and soil materials. However, the effect of σ2 is often ignored in slope stability analyses, and its impact on slope stability is seldom investigated.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Torque sum method for slope stability analysis

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
A new method for analyzing slope stability, the torque sum method (TSM), is proposed. The TSM is on the basis of the vector sum method (VSM), considering the displacement mode of the landslide mass as a rigid body and supplementing the displacement ...

Parametric Analysis of Slope Stability for River Embankment

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Engineering and Computation, 2020
This paper has aimed to investigate the slope stability for various conditions like embankment geometry, water level and soil property. The analysis has been performed by using the XSTABL program for different slope heights, slope angles and flood ...
