INFLUENCE OF SURFACE CRACKS ON THE STABILITY OF CRACKED SOIL SLOPE
The slope stability is a major concern to geotechnical engineers. Traditional methods of slope stability analysis have potentially ignored the influence of surface cracks.

Development of Landslide Warning System [PDF]
Landslides cause approximately 25 to 50 deaths and US$1 - 2 billion worth of damage in the United States annually. They can be triggered by humans or by nature.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method for Evaluating Stability of Loess Slopes
The stability assessment of loess slopes is of great significance for slope reinforcement and safety assessment. This research studies the main factors affecting the stability of the loess slope through the summary and analyzes the failure cases of the ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Evaluation of slope stability with topography and slope stability analysis method
In existing researches connected with landslide, natural slope was regard as a parallel slope, but it was found that many landslides were occurred on the concave and convex slopes besides parallel slopes. This study was performed to evaluate the effect of shape and length of slope and soil depth for slope stability analysis and to compare infinite ...

Periodic-coefficient damping estimates, and stability of large-amplitude roll waves in inclined thin film flow [PDF]
A technical obstruction preventing the conclusion of nonlinear stability of large-Froude number roll waves of the St. Venant equations for inclined thin film flow is the "slope condition" of Johnson-Noble-Zumbrun, used to obtain pointwise ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
