Twisted scroll waves organize Dictyostelium mucoroides slugs [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Cellular slime moulds (Dictyosteloids) are characterised by at least two different modes of slug migration. Most species, e.g. Dictyostelium mucoroides, produce a stalk continuously during slug migration, while a few species, e.g.

Slug Mediates MRP2 Expression in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Cells

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2022
Transcriptional factors, such as Snail, Slug, and Smuc, that cause epithelial-mesenchymal transition are thought to regulate the expression of Ezrin, Radixin, and Moesin (ERM proteins), which serve as anchors for efflux transporters on the plasma ...

Upregulation of SLUG expression in canine mammary gland tumors and its prognostic significance

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2023
Background SLUG (also known as snai2), which is a transcription factor in epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), plays an important role in tumorigenesis.

Generation of Controlled Liquid–Liquid Slug Flow by Interlocking Two Diaphragm Pumps

open access: yesSeparations, 2022
From the viewpoint of resource and energy-saving, the high extraction rate of alternating liquid–liquid flow (slug flow) is important given that it enables its novel use in extraction.

High Fidelity Qubit Readout with the Superconducting Low-Inductance Undulatory Galvanometer Microwave Amplifier

open access: yes, 2013
We describe the high fidelity dispersive measurement of a superconducting qubit using a microwave amplifier based on the Superconducting Low-inductance Undulatory Galvanometer (SLUG).

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Absence of EpCAM in cervical cancer cells is involved in slug induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2021
Background Slug (Snai2) is a pivotal player in initiating epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) through its trans-suppression effect on E-cadherin in various normal and malignant cells.

A suitable parametrization to simulate slug flows with the Volume-Of-Fluid method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Diffuse–interface methods, such as the Volume-Of-Fluid method, are often used to simulate complex multiphase flows even if they require significant computation time.

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Stream Discharge Determinations Using Slug Additions and Specific Conductance

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Stream discharge is often determined by wading the stream and measuring the point velocity at fixed widths and depths. However, there are conditions when wading measurements are not safe or the measurements are poor because of high turbulence, rocky ...
