FERROMAGNETISM AND SMALL GRAINS

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1988
The rotational permeability µrot has been calculated as a function of grain size d for a model representing a fine-grained crystalline material in which the easy direction of the magnetization varies from grain to grain. If d increases from zero to the domain wall thickness δ, µrot decreases to ≈ 20 % of µrot at d = 0. If magnetostatic effects are also

A High-Throughput RNA Extraction for Sprouted Single-Seed Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) Rich in Polysaccharides

open access: yesPlants, 2016
Germinated seed from cereal crops including barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is an important tissue to extract RNA and analyze expression levels of genes that control aspects of germination.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

A Substantial Fraction of Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) Low Phytic Acid Mutations Have Little or No Effect on Yield across Diverse Production Environments

open access: yesPlants, 2015
The potential benefits of the low phytic acid (lpa) seed trait for human and animal nutrition, and for phosphorus management in non-ruminant animal production, are well documented.

Comparison of maize and wheat production in Serbia during the 2007-2016 period [PDF]

open access: yesAgroznanje, 2018
The objective of this paper is to show and compare the production of maize and wheat in Serbia from 2007 to 2016. This paper presents an analysis of the production of maize and wheat in the Republic of Serbia, by applying the method of comparison and ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Improvements to the soil nitrate quick test for California small grains

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 2022
Small-grain crop growers need to match their crops' nitrogen (N) needs with fertilizer applications. This can be challenging because small grains are grown under diverse conditions and their growing season interacts with unpredictable precipitation ...

Correction to “Micromagnetic models of pseudo-single domain grains of magnetite near the Verwey Transition”

open access: yes, 1999
Domain structures of small pseudo-single domain (PSD) magnetite near the Verwey transition (Tυ) at ≈120 K were modeled using an unconstrained three-dimensional micromagnetic algorithm.

Use of Small Grains in Daily Life

open access: yes, 2022
It was the Green Revolution that made independent India self-sufficient in its food needs. However, due to the minimum reference price announced by the government for the small grains the farmers gave importance to paddy and wheat crops.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for
