Functional expression and mutations of c-Met and its therapeutic inhibition with SU11274 and small interfering RNA in non-small cell lung cancer.

open access: yesCancer Research, 2005
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a difficult disease to treat. The c-Met receptor is an attractive potential target for novel therapeutic inhibition in human cancers.

Transfer of small interfering RNA by electropermeabilization in tumor spheroids

open access: yesBioelectrochemistry, 2021
The ability to modulate deregulated genes by RNAi provides treatment perspectives in certain diseases including cancers. Electrotransfer of oligonucleotides was studied in vitro, showing a direct transfer of negatively charged siRNA across the plasma membrane into the cytoplasm.

The Small interfering RNA pathway is not essential for Wolbachia-mediated antiviral protection in Drosophila melanogaster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Wolbachia pipientis delays RNA virus-induced mortality in Drosophila spp. We investigated whether Wolbachia-mediated protection was dependent on the small interfering RNA (siRNA) pathway, a key antiviral defense.

From omics to AI—mapping the pathogenic pathways in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Integrating multi‐omics data with AI‐based modelling (unsupervised and supervised machine learning) identify optimal patient clusters, informing AI‐driven accurate risk stratification. Digital twins simulate individual trajectories in real time, guiding precision medicine by matching patients to targeted therapies.

Effect of interleukin-8 gene silencing with liposome-encapsulated small interfering RNA on ovarian cancer cell growth.

open access: yesJournal of the National Cancer Institute, 2008
BACKGROUND Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a proangiogenic cytokine that is overexpressed in many human cancers. We investigated the clinical and biologic significance of IL-8 in ovarian carcinoma using human samples and orthotopic mouse models.

Colored petri net modeling of small interfering RNA-mediated messenger RNA degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Biomedical Research, 2016
Background: Mathematical modeling of biological systems is an attractive way for studying complex biological systems and their behaviors. Petri Nets, due to their ability to model systems with various levels of qualitative information, have been wildly ...

RNA-directed DNA methylation involves co-transcriptional small-RNA-guided slicing of polymerase V transcripts in Arabidopsis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Small RNAs regulate chromatin modifications such as DNA methylation and gene silencing across eukaryotic genomes. In plants, RNA-directed DNA methylation (RdDM) requires 24-nucleotide small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) that bind to ARGONAUTE 4 (AGO4) and ...

ERBIN limits epithelial cell plasticity via suppression of TGF‐β signaling

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In breast and lung cancer patients, low ERBIN expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes. Here, we show that ERBIN inhibits TGF‐β‐induced epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in NMuMG breast and A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. ERBIN suppresses TGF‐β/SMAD signaling and reduces TGF‐β‐induced ERK phosphorylation.

Laser‐Triggered Small Interfering RNA Releasing Gold Nanoshells against Heat Shock Protein for Sensitized Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvancement of science, 2016
The resistance of cancer cells to photothermal therapy is closely related to the overexpression of heat shock proteins (HSPs), which are abnormally upregulated when cells are under lethal stresses.

EGCG‐LYS Fibrils‐Mediated CircMAP2K2 Silencing Decreases the Proliferation and Metastasis Ability of Gastric Cancer Cells in Vitro and in Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
Aberrant expression of circular RNAs (circRNAs) has been reported to play an important biological regulatory role in gastric cancer (GC). For the purpose of silencing cancer‐related genes, a new approach for cancer treatment using nanocarriers to deliver
