AbstractSpecimens of polar snow from the South Pole, Antarctica, were tested to investigate air permeability K (cm.sec.−1), ultimate compressive strength σc (g.cm.−2) and dynamic Young’s modulus E (g.cm.−2) as a function of density. Anisotropy in a single layer of snow (snow between two summer crusts) was found in all three properties.

Seasonal drivers of plant–soil–microbial community structure and functions in Western Himalayan grasslands, Pakistan

Grassland Research, EarlyView.
Plant species richness was greater in summer in both alpine and subalpine grassland ecosystems. Soil moisture demonstrates significant positive correlations with soil organic carbon and total nitrogen across seasonal periods. Microbial α‐diversity peaks during summer but maintains functional stability across seasons.

Integrated macroscopic, histological, and ultrastructural analyses revealed five distinct lingual papillae types (filiform, fungiform, conical, foliate, and vallate) in the Anatolian wild boar (Sus scrofa libycus). Mechanical papillae showed marked structural specialization, while gustatory papillae exhibited region‐specific distribution of taste buds.
