SOAT1 is a new prognostic factor of colorectal cancer

Irish Journal of Medical Science (1971 -), 2021
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignant gastrointestinal cancers. Metastasis is the major leading cause of death in patients with CRC, and many patients treated with radical surgery were diagnosed with metastasis during follow-up. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms regulating CRC metastasis are still elusive.

SOAT1 enhances lung cancer invasiveness by stimulating AKT-mediated mitochondrial fragmentation

Biochemistry and Cell Biology, 2022
Sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (SOAT1) is a key enzyme in lipid metabolism, which mediates cholesterol esterification metabolism and is closely associated with many cancers. However, the role of SOAT1 in lung cancer invasion remains unclear. We found that SOAT1 expression was positively correlated with lung cancer invasion.

SOAT1 in gallbladder cancer: Clinicopathological significance and avasimibe therapeutics

Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology
AbstractThe aim of this investigation was to evaluate the differential expression of the sterol O‐acyltransferase 1 (SOAT1) protein in gallbladder cancer tissues and cells, investigate the impact of Avastin on the proliferation, migration, invasion capabilities of gallbladder cancer cells, and its potential to induce cell apoptosis. Immunohistochemical

SOAT1 deficiency attenuates atherosclerosis by regulating inflammation and cholesterol transportation via HO-1 pathway

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2018
Sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (SOAT1) is a key enzyme for cholesteryl ester biosynthesis. The objective of the present study is to investigate the role and underlying molecular mechanisms of SOAT1 in atherosclerosis. Our results indicated that SOAT1 was highly expressed in endothelial cells of atherosclerotic lesions in human patients with atherosclerosis

Abstract B081: SOAT1 as a targetable KRAS dependency in PDAC

Cancer Research
Abstract Metabolic rewiring is an emerging hallmark of neoplasia. In pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), KRAS alters myriad metabolic programs to promote cellular transformation. Among them, the cholesterol synthesis pathway has emerged as a vulnerability of cancer cells due to the importance of cholesterol in membrane fluidity and ...
