Empowering Young Adults as Agents of Household Dietary Change: Findings From a Pilot Study Involving a Digital, Family-Led Sodium Reduction Intervention in Singapore

open access: yesCurrent Developments in Nutrition
Background: Unhealthy dietary habits such as high-sodium intake, are socially embedded and often resistant to individual-level interventions. Family-led approaches, where 1 member initiates change within the household, may offer a more effective ...

Salinity reduces nutrients absorption and efficiency of their utilization in cassava plants

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2018
: The objective of this research was to evaluate the influence of salinity on the absorption and utilization of nutrients by cassava. For the study, cassava was submitted to four saline concentrations: 0, 20, 40, and 60mM NaCl.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

(18-Crown-6)(trifluoromethanesulfonato)sodium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The title compound, [Na(CF3O3S)(C12H24O6)], features a sodium cation that is coordinated by eight O atoms in an irregular hexagonal bipyramidal environment. The equatorial positions are occupied by the six O atoms of an 18-crown-6 ether ring.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Total bilirubin in nasogastric aspirates: A potential new indicator of postoperative gastrointestinal recovery

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Paediatric Surgery, 2013
Background: The aim of our study was to investigate if total bilirubin (T-bil), amylase (Amy), and sodium (Na) in nasogastric (NG) aspirates can reflect gastrointestinal motility reliably. Materials and Methods: NG aspirates from all laparotomies lasting
