Sodium alginate as a mould release agent
The use of sodium alginate as a mould release agent during the casting of epoxy or polyester resins in plaster moulds is discussed. The optimal concentration of a retarder is determined, taking into consideration the setting behaviour and the adhesive bond strength.

Photodegradation of microcystin-LR using graphene-TiO2/sodium alginate aerogels
In this study, sustainable graphene oxide-TiO2/sodium alginate and reduced graphene oxide-TiO2/sodium alginate aerogels were synthesized and the potential of these aerogels was investigated for microcystin-LR degradation in aqueous solution.

Structural Characterization of Sodium Alginate and Calcium Alginate
Biomacromolecules, 2016Alginate readily aggregates and forms a physical gel in the presence of cations. The association of the chains, and ultimately gel structure and mechanics, depends not only on ion type, but also on the sequence and composition of the alginate chain that ultimately determines its stiffness.
