The stability of alkaline phosphatase in sodium dodecyl sulfate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1974
While sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) is a most effectieve detergent for solubilizing membrane proteins, this detergent is also an effective protein denaturant [l-4] . At appropriate detergent concentrations and after equilibrium dialysis, the SDS-protein complexes formed contain approximately 1.4 g of SDS bound/g protein [ 1,2] .

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Evaluation of Different Decellularization Protocols for Obtaining and Characterizing Canine Cardiac Extracellular Matrix

open access: yesBiomedicines
Cardiovascular diseases are considered the leading cause of mortality globally; even with low mortality in dogs, such diseases are described in the same way in companion animals and humans.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Examination of mixed sodium dodecyl sulfate – 1-butanol micelles with molecular dynamics

open access: yesВісник Харківського національного університету: Серія xімія, 2022
Properties of mixed micelles composed of sodium n-dodecyl sulfate surfactant and 1-butanol co‑surfactant were examined using molecular dynamics simulation for three experimentally observed compositions. The aggregation number varied in the range of 30 to

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Comparison of Same Carbon Chain Length Cationic and Anionic Surfactant Adsorption on Silica

open access: yesColloids and Interfaces, 2020
Adsorption of a cationic surfactant dodecyl pyridinium chloride (DPC) on silica was studied to show a comparison with the adsorption of an anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), whose carbon chain length is the same and on the same silica ...

Renaturation of Myoglobin Denatured by Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate by Removal of Dodecyl Sulfate Ions Bound to the Protein Using Sodium Cholate

open access: yesJournal of Oleo Science, 2023
The secondary and tertiary structures of myoglobin were disrupted by sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) but were hardly affected by the bile salt, sodium cholate (NaCho). This disruption was induced by the binding of dodecyl sulfate (DS) ions to the protein. In this study, the removal of DS ions bound to the protein was attempted using NaCho.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
