In-Flight Parameter Estimation for Multirotor Aerial Vehicles

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
This paper proposes a method for in-flight parameter estimation for Multirotor Aerial Vehicles (MAV). This task is important because it provides parameters with better accuracy for the actual vehicle operation. In order to simulate a flight it is adopted

Investigation of Multi-Input Multi-Output Robust Control Methods to Handle Parametric Uncertainties in Autopilot Design. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Some level of uncertainty is unavoidable in acquiring the mass, geometry parameters and stability derivatives of an aerial vehicle. In certain instances tiny perturbations of these could potentially cause considerable variations in flight characteristics.

3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.

Wireless, Adaptable and Fully Implantable Battery‐powered Devices for Optical Stimulation of the Spinal Cord in Small Rodents

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current technologies for spinal cord optogenetic stimulation rely on external power sources and face reliability constraints in freely behaving animals. Here, a fully implantable, battery‐powered optoelectronic device is introduced, enabling operation in any selected environment with wireless recharging for months‐long stimulation.

Evaluation of SiL Testing Potential—Shifting from HiL by Identifying Compatible Requirements with vECUs

open access: yesVehicles
Due to the increasing complexity of vehicle software, it is becoming increasingly difficult to comprehensively test all requirements. This inevitably means that alternative test methods, e.g., simulation-based methods, must be used more frequently ...

A Soft Robotic Jellyfish with Decoupled Actuators for Agile 3D Locomotion

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study presents a soft robotic jellyfish featuring a functionally decoupled actuation architecture. By separating propulsion, steering, and vertical regulation into independent modules, the robot overcomes conventional coupled‐motion limitations. Utilizing a passive‐valve‐based differential drag strategy and lateral water jets, it achieves agile 3D
