A Novel Angular-Guided Particle Swarm Optimizer for Many-Objective Optimization Problems

open access: yesComplexity, 2020
Most multiobjective particle swarm optimizers (MOPSOs) often face the challenges of keeping diversity and achieving convergence on tackling many-objective optimization problems (MaOPs), as they usually use the nondominated sorting method or decomposition-

Sustainable Software Ecosystems for Open Science

open access: yes, 2013
Sustainable software ecosystems are difficult to build, and require concerted effort, community norms and collaborations. In science it is especially important to establish communities in which faculty, staff, students and open-source professionals work ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

A Novel Hybrid Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm With an Adaptive Resource Allocation Strategy

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Recently, there are a number of particle swarm optimization algorithms (PSOs) proposed for tackling multi-objective optimization problems (MOPs). Most of multi-objective PSOs (MOPSOs) were designed to speed up their convergence, which have been validated
