Scaling Relations for Solar-Like Oscillations: A Review

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2020
The scaling relations for solar-like oscillations provide a translation of the features of the stochastic low-degree modes of oscillation in the Sun to predict the features of solar-like oscillations in other stars with convective outer layers.

Bow shock oscillations of Mars under weakly disturbed solar wind conditions [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Bow shock, where the solar wind first encounters the Martian environment, reflects the complex interplay between the solar wind and Martian upper atmosphere and crustal fields.

p-Mode Oscillations in Highly Gravitationally Stratified Magnetic Solar Atmospheres

open access: yesPhysics, 2023
The aim of the study reported in this paper is to gain understanding of solar global oscillations and the propagation characteristics of p-mode oscillations in the highly gravitationally stratified magnetic solar atmosphere.

Ionospheric Oscillation with Periods of 6–30 Days at Middle Latitudes: A Response to Solar Radiative, Geomagnetic, and Lower Atmospheric Forcing

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
This research studies the medium timescale (6–30 days) ionospheric response over the Wuhan area to solar radiative, recurrent geomagnetic, and lower atmospheric forcing.

SITCoM: SiRGraF Integrated Tool for Coronal dynaMics

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2023
SiRGraF Integrated Tool for Coronal dynaMics (SITCoM) is based on the Simple Radial Gradient Filter used to filter the radial gradient in the white-light coronagraph images and bring out dynamic structures.

On the Origin of Solar Oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1998
We have made high resolution observations of the Sun in which we identify individual sunquakes and see power from these seismic events being pumped into the resonant modes of vibration of the Sun. A typical event lasts about five minutes. We report the physical properties of the events and relate them to theories of the excitation of solar oscillations.

The solar oscillations spectrum and the solar cycle [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1988
During the summer seasons of the years 1977 to 1985 daily velocity measurements of solar global oscillations have been obtained using a resonant scattering spectrometer. After calculating the power spectra of the daily residuals, the mean for each season is found.

Spatio-temporal comparisons of the hydrogen-alpha line width and ALMA 3 mm brightness temperature in the weak solar network

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2023
Comparisons between the Atacama Large Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array (ALMA) 3 mm emission and a range of optical and UV solar observations have found the strongest correspondence between the width of the hydrogen alpha line at 656.3 nm and the 3 mm ...

Observing Solar-like Oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 1997
We review techniques for measuring stellar oscillations in solar-type stars. Despite great efforts, no unambiguous detections have been made. A new method, based on monitoring the equivalent widths of strong lines, shows promise but is yet to be confirmed.

Polarisation of decayless kink oscillations of solar coronal loops

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Decayless kink oscillations of plasma loops in the solar corona may contain an answer to the enigmatic problem of solar and stellar coronal heating. The polarisation of the oscillations gives us a unique information about their excitation mechanisms and ...
