On the Origin of Solar Torsional Oscillations and Extended Solar Cycle [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2019
We present a nonlinear mean-field model of the solar interior dynamics and dynamo, which reproduces the observed cyclic variations of the global magnetic field of the Sun, as well as the differential rotation and meridional circulation. Using this model,

Transverse Vertical Oscillations During the Contraction and Expansion of Coronal Loops

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
In this paper, we carry out a detailed analysis of the M1.6 class eruptive flare occurring in NOAA active region 13078 on 2022 August 19. The flare is associated with a fast coronal mass ejection (CME) propagating in the southwest direction with an ...

Solar Mass-Varying Neutrino Oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2005
We propose that the solar neutrino deficit may be due to oscillations of mass-varying neutrinos (MaVaNs). This scenario elucidates solar neutrino data beautifully while remaining comfortably compatible with atmospheric neutrino and K2K data and with reactor antineutrino data at short and long baselines (from CHOOZ and KamLAND).

Large scale coherent magnetohydrodynamic oscillations in a sunspot

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Co-existence of several magnetohydrodynamic oscillations modes on the Sun were predicted earlier. Here, the authors show large-scale coherent oscillations in a sunspot, with a spectrum different than solar global acoustic oscillations, incorporating a ...

Quasivacuum solar neutrino oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2000
We discuss in detail solar neutrino oscillations with m^2/E in the range [10^-10,10^-7] eV^2/MeV. In this range, which interpolates smoothly between the so-called ``just-so'' and ``Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein'' oscillation regimes, neutrino flavor transitions are increasingly affected by matter effects as m^2/E increases.

GONG Catalog of Solar Filament Oscillations Near Solar Maximum [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2018
We have cataloged filament oscillations from the Global Oscillation Network Group Hα network data during several months near the maximum of solar cycle 24 (2014 January–June).

The fate of hints: updated global analysis of three-flavor neutrino oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
Our herein described combined analysis of the latest neutrino oscillation data presented at the Neutrino2020 conference shows that previous hints for the neutrino mass ordering have significantly decreased, and normal ordering (NO) is favored only at the

Three-Neutrino Mixing and Combined Vacuum Oscillations and MSW Transitions of Solar Neutrinos [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Assuming three flavour neutrino mixing takes place in vacuum, we investigate the possibility that the solar nu_e take part in MSW transitions in the Sun due to Delta m^2_{31} from 10^{-7} eV^2 to 10^{-4} eV^2, followed by long wave length vacuum ...

Solar Activity and Solar Oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1997
Helioseismology provides us with the tools to probe solar activity. So that we can consider how the solar oscillations are influenced by that activity, we first consider the phenomena that we associate with the active Sun. The surface of the Sun is not quiet but shows evidence of convection on a wide range of scales from a few hundred kilometres ...
