Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Recovery of gangliosides from aqueous solutions on styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer columns1

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2002
An investigation was made using a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer as a solid phase sorbent to recover gangliosides from aqueous solutions. A comparison with octadecyl-bonded (C18) silica gel showed that the general procedure used to purify gangliosides ...

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Pré-concentração de cádmio com Saccharomyces cerevisiae e determinação em águas fluviais usando espectrometria de emissão óptica com plasma indutivamente acoplado Preconcentration of cadmium with Saccharomyces cerevisiae and determination in river water using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2007
A preconcentration method based on the use of Saccharomyces cerevisiae as sorbent material is proposed for the determination of Cd(II) in river water.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Preconcentration, determination and speciation of iron by solid-phase extraction using dimethyl (E)-2-[(Z)-1-acetyl)-2-hydroxy-1-propenyl]-2-butenedioate

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2012
A new sensitive and selective procedure for speciation of trace dissolved Fe(III) and Fe(II), using modified octadecyl silica membrane disks and determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry was developed.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Considerações sobre o preparo de amostras contendo micropoluentes estrogênicos

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2012
In this work, the materials used in the recovery of estrogens from aqueous matrices by filtration and solid phase extraction were evaluated. The results showed that glass-fiber filters allow a recovery and repeatability compatible with this type of ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
