The Influence of the effect of solute on the thermodynamic driving force on grain refinement of Al alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Grain refinement is known to be strongly affected by the solute in cast alloys. Addition of some solute can reduce grain size considerably while others have a limited effect.

Electrochemical Performance of Chitosan Oligosaccharide/Carbon Nanotube Composite for Detection of Trace Copper(II) Ion

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2017
Chitosan oligosaccharide (COS)/multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) composite was prepared by electrostatic self-assembly method. The thickness of COS uniformly enwrapped on the surface of MWCNTs is around 3.3 nm.

Microstructural characterisation and thermal stability of an Mg-Al-Sr alloy prepared by rheo-diecasting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A commercial Mg-6Al-2Sr (AJ62) alloy has been prepared by a semisolid rheo-diecasting (RDC) process. The microstructure of the RDC alloy exhibits typical semisolid solidification features, i.e., 8.4 vol% primary α-Mg globules (23 μm in diameter), formed ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Enhancing creep rupture life prediction of high‐temperature titanium alloys using convolutional neural networks

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances
Prediction of creep rupture life of high‐temperature titanium alloys is crucial for their practical applications. The efficient representations (features) of the information encoded in the data are essential to achieve an accurate prediction model. Here,

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
