THU0295 Interleukin-6 and Soluble Interleukin-6 Receptor in Large-Vessel Vasculitides

Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, 2015
Background A role for interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the pathogenesis of large-vessel vasculitides (LVV) has been suggested by previously reported results indicating increased serum IL-6 levels in patients compared to healthy controls (1,2). In addition, IL-6 relevance in LVV is also supported by genetic evidence, as highlighted by a very recent study ...

Soluble gp130 is the natural inhibitor of soluble interleukin‐6 receptor transsignaling responses

European Journal of Biochemistry, 2001
Signal transduction in response to interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) requires binding of the cytokine to its receptor (IL‐6R) and subsequent homodimerization of the signal transducer gp130. The complex of IL‐6 and soluble IL‐6R (sIL‐6R) triggers dimerization of gp130 and induces responses on cells that do not express membrane bound IL‐6R.

The soluble interleukin 6 receptor: mechanisms of production and implications in disease

The FASEB Journal, 2001
ABSTRACT Interleukin 6 (IL‐6) performs a prominent role during disease and has been described as both a pro‐ and anti‐inflammatory cytokine. A key feature in the regulation of IL‐6 responses has been the identification of a soluble interleukin 6 receptor (sIL‐6R), which forms a ligand‐receptor complex with IL‐6 ...

Expression of soluble interleukin-6 receptor in malignant ovarian tissue

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2010
The objective of the study was to investigate interleukin-6 receptor (IL6R) isoforms and sheddases in the ovarian tumor microenvironment.Expression of IL6R and sheddases was measured in tissue samples of papillary serous ovarian carcinomas and benign ovaries by real-time polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry.

Regulation of Mouse Soluble Interleukin-6 Receptor Secretion by Decidua

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1995
Regulation of msIL-6R secretion by mIL-6 and 8-bromo cAMP was examined using primarily cell culture of mouse decidua. Mouse decidua on day 11 of pregnancy was digested by collagenase and decidual cells were cultured for up to 3 days. Addition of mIL-6 and 8-bromo cAMP resulted in significant inhibition of msIL-6R secretion from cultured mouse decidual ...

Detection of membrane and soluble interleukin‐6 receptor in lymphoid malignancies

British Journal of Haematology, 1995
Summary. We studied the membrane expression of the gp80 chain of IL‐6 receptor (IL‐6R) by quantitative flow cytometry in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and leukaemic centrocytic lymphoma using a panel of seven monoclonal antibodies. IL‐6R was detected in 18/26 CLL cases and 4/7 lymphoma cases, with a mean antigen density <3000 molecules/cell ...

The Soluble Interleukin 6 Receptor: Advanced Therapeutic Options in Inflammation

Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 2017
Interleukin (IL)‐6 binds to IL‐6R and the complex of IL‐6 and IL‐6R associates with the receptor subunit gp130, which initiates signaling. gp130 is expressed on all cells. IL‐6R is cleaved by the ADAM17, generating a soluble IL‐6R (sIL‐6R). The sIL‐6R binds IL‐6 and the complex of IL‐6 and sIL‐6R binds to gp130 even on cells that do not express IL‐6R ...
