Engineering Pendant Group Chemistry to Control Hydrophilicity and Oxidative Degradation of Thioketal‐Based Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thioketal (TK) polymers are promising biomaterials due to their selective biodegradation by reactive oxygen species (ROS), but they respond slowly to physiologic doses of ROS. Here, the TK bond's pendant groups are modified to enhance the degradation of TK‐based implants both in vitro and in vivo.

Fruit carbohydrate metabolism in an introgression line of tomato with increased fruit soluble solids.

open access: yes, 2005
A tomato line (IL9-2-5) of the cultivated species, Lycopersicon esculentum, carrying a 9 cM introgression from the wild species, Lycopersicon pennelli, produces fruit with high soluble solids content (Brix), an important determinant of fruit quality for ...

Assessment of fruit quality and volatile profiles in watermelons grafted onto various rootstocks

open access: yesVegetable Research
Grafting is a common technique used to enhance watermelon yield under biotic and abiotic stress conditions; however, it may influence fruit development and quality.

Nanoengineered Binetworks in Multifunctional Anionic Block Polymer Mesoblends for Improved Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoblends consist of a nanostructured polymer into which a second polymer is imbibed with a selective solvent. In this work, a solvent‐templatable pentablock terpolymer possessing a sulfonated midblock is modified with a hydrophilic polymer that is photocrosslinked in situ, yielding a hierarchical binetwork.

The effect of treating plum tree with Rovral (iprodion) and Euparen (dichlofluanid) on the content of soluble solids in fruit

open access: yes
The concentration of soluble solids in plum fruit varied and depended on the cultivar, year, and fungicide treatment. Plums from trees treated with Rovral (iprodion) contained in some case the lowest level of soluble solids, higher or equal levels were ...

Effect of Soluble Solids and High Pressure Treatment on Rheological Properties of Protein Enriched Mango Puree

open access: yes, 2019
The effects of high pressure treatment on the rheological properties of protein enriched mango puree were evaluated. In the first part, the original soluble solids in mango puree (28° Brix) was lowered to 26, 23 and 20° Brix, and each was ...

A Bilayered Inorganic‐Metal Interface Enables Highly Reversible Aluminum Deposition for Long‐Life Aqueous Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A gradient M/MOx (M = Sn, Cu, Cd) synergistic interphase was constructed on Al via a one‐step displacement reaction. This interphase leverages high aluminophilicity and ion‐buffering capability to accelerate desolvation, enhance Al3+ transport, and suppress side reactions, enabling ultrastable symmetric cell operation at 0.05 mA cm−2 for 1800 h with an

Designed Lewis Acid–Base Passivation for High Performance Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silicon's high cost and long energy payback time remain major barriers to the global expansion of solar power. In contrast, metal–halide perovskites offer abundant, solution‐processable absorbers, and have achieved efficiencies of 25%–30%, positioning them as strong competitors to silicon.
