Solvent effects in anion recognition

Nature Reviews Chemistry
Anion recognition is pertinent to a range of environmental, medicinal and industrial applications. Recent progress in the field has relied on advances in synthetic host design to afford a broad range of potent recognition motifs and novel supramolecular structures capable of effective binding both in solution and at derived molecular films.

Solvent effect in a “solvent free” reaction

CrystEngComm, 2007
Vapour digestion of a mixture of solid [Fe(η5-C5H4–C5H4N)2] and solid pimelic acid HOOC(CH2)5COOH in the presence of solvent vapours generates co-crystals of different stoichiometry depending on the protic or aprotic nature of the solvent. The nature of the products has been ascertained by a combined use of SSNMR and X-ray diffraction.

Solvent effects on the wood delignification with sustainable solvents

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2022
Solutions of a pure organic solvent acidified with 1% sulfuric acid, and some of their aqueous mixtures were used for lignin extraction in the Pinus radiata sawdust delignification. Organic acid solvents including acetic, lactic and citric acids as well as non-acidic compounds such as γ-valerolactone, 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, glycerol and ethylene ...

Industrial solvents and psychological effects

Clinics in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 2004
Organic solvents are widely used in industries for cleaning, degreasing, and other processes. The high dose neurotoxicity of occupational solvents is evident, and the existence of residual effects following lower dose exposure remains a focus of interest 30 years after initial reports of behavioral changes in painters from the Scandinavian literature ...

Solvents and Solvent Effects:  An Introduction

Organic Process Research & Development, 2006
Solution chemistry is carried out in solvents, that is in liquids under the conditions of application, which can exert a considerable influence on the properties of the dissolved solute species. A short historical overview on the influence of solvents on chemical processes (equilibria, reaction rates) and physical processes (absorption spectra ...

Solvent effects on dinucleotide conformation

Journal of Molecular Biology, 1972
Abstract The effect of the addition of organic solvents and reagents on the absorption, optical rotatory dispersion and circular dichroism of ApA was investigated. The added reagents were dioxane, ethylene glycol, glycerol, dimethylsulfoxide, trimethylphosphate, guanidine hydrochloride, formamide and tetrahydrofuran.

Modeling solvent effects on chiroptical properties

Chirality, 2011
AbstractIn this article, the most advanced extensions of solvation models to chiroptical properties of solvated systems will be reviewed. The main aspects determining the complex phenomenon of solvation will be first discussed in terms of the physical interactions beyond them and successively translated in a computational language introducing the ...
