Factors Influencing Undesirable Sensory Properties in Protein Hydrolysates and Remediation Strategies for Food Applications

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Enzymatic hydrolysis is used to produce protein hydrolysates from animal‐ and plant‐based sources, which are widely utilized in industry due to their nutritional, functional, and bioactive properties. However, these hydrolysates can exhibit unattractive sensory properties, such as off‐flavors or off‐odors, which limit their use in food ...

Soybean hulls and alfalfa for limit-fed cattle

open access: yesKansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports, 2001
We evaluated the optimal level of alfalfa inclusion in limit-fed, soybean hull-based diets. Steers were fed soybean hull-based diets containing 0 to 30% alfalfa or alfalfa alone. Feed intakes were lower for alfalfa than for soybean hull-based diets.

Soil acidity stress: A faba bean (Vicia faba L.) cultivation challenge in Ethiopia, mitigation, and future perspectives

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Soil acidity is among the most important abiotic stresses globally constraining agricultural land and crop productivity. Globally, about 30%–40% of total arable land is under the influence of acidic soil. In Ethiopia, approximately 43% of arable land and productive areas are constrained by acidic soil.

Soybean Hulls and White Oat Grains in Steer Finishing

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of using ground soybean hulls and white oat grains to finish steers reared exclusively on concentrated feed. We used 33 steers, predominantly of Charolais or Nellore breeds, and randomly assigned the animals to the treatments, blocking them according to genetic predominance. The diets were isonitrogenous,
