Background Surfactant protein D (SP-D) is a critical component of the innate immune system intrinsically linked to energy metabolism. However, the relationship of SP-D gene polymorphisms and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) remains unclear.

Surfactant protein D (SP-D) is a member of the family of mammalian C-type lectins. SP-D is secreted into the pulmonary airspaces by lung epithelial cells and is believed to contribute to the lung's defense against inhaled microorganisms. We have previously characterized cDNAs specific for human SP-D (hSP-D). We now describe the partial characterization

Surfactant Protein D in Respiratory and Non-Respiratory Diseases
Surfactant protein D (SP-D) is a multimeric collectin that is involved in innate immune defense and expressed in pulmonary, as well as non-pulmonary, epithelia.

Band structure of semimagnetic Hg1-yMnyTe quantum wells
The band structure of semimagnetic Hg_1-yMn_yTe/Hg_1-xCd_xTe type-III quantum wells has been calculated using eight-band kp model in an envelope function approach. Details of the band structure calculations are given for the Mn free case (y=0).

Surfactant protein D induces immune quiescence and apoptosis of mitogen-activated peripheral blood mononuclear cells [PDF]
Surfactant Protein D (SP-D) is an integral molecule of the innate immunity secreted by the epithelial cells lining the mucosal surfaces. Its C-type lectin domain offers pattern recognition functions while it binds to putative receptors on immune cells to

SP-D as a Marker of Amiodarone-induced Pulmonary Toxicity.
Two patients with amiodarone-induced pulmonary toxicity (APT) showed abnormally increased serum SP-D concentrations, although their KL-6 level was within the normal range. In a 59-year-old man with ischemic heart disease, APT progressed rapidly and required steroid pulse therapy.

Supramolecular Assembly of Human Pulmonary Surfactant Protein SP-D [PDF]
Pulmonary surfactant protein D (SP-D) is a glycoprotein from the collectin family that is a component of the lung surfactant system. It exhibits host defense and immune regulatory functions in addition to contributing to the homeostasis of the surfactant pool within the alveolar airspaces.

Mechanisms of Manganese-Assisted Nonradiative Recombination in Cd(Mn)Se/Zn(Mn)Se Quantum Dots
Mechanisms of nonradiative recombination of electron-hole complexes in Cd(Mn)Se/Zn(Mn)Se quantum dots accompanied by interconfigurational excitations of Mn$^{2+}$ ions are analyzed within the framework of single electron model of deep {\it 3d}-levels in ...
