Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Martian Ionospheric Cold Hydrogen Ion Escape at Solar Maximum: First Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The water escape from Mars to space could be in the form of hydrogen and oxygen ions as driven by solar wind–Mars interactions. Although oxygen ion escape has been extensively investigated, the H ^+ escape rate was measured only at solar minimum.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

A Physics-informed Deep Learning Model for the Magnetic Classification of Solar Active Regions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Solar active regions (ARs) are the source of solar eruptive events such as flares. The morphology of sunspots within ARs is closely related to solar eruptive activity.

Impact of lower atmospheric scattering on ground-based optical thermospheric wind observations with spatially uneven airglow [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques
Scattered airglow emissions in the lower atmosphere can bias ground-based interferometer observations of thermospheric winds, particularly when airglow brightness becomes spatially uneven due to auroras. During two geomagnetic storms with visible auroras

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Operational Solar Flare Ensemble Forecasting Model for Full-disk Active Regions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Solar flares are explosive releases of magnetic energy in localized regions of the solar atmosphere that threaten the safety of solar–terrestrial technological systems, making their forecasting critical for space-weather-forecasting support services ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
