FOURIER ANALYSIS IN SPACES OF SHIFTS
In this paper, we develop a continual analog of decomposition over orthogonal bases in spaces generated by equidistant shifts of a single function. By doing so, we obtain an explicit expression for best approximation by spaces of shifts in $L_2(\mathbb{R})$.

Mycobacterial 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA carboxylase uses a mobile biotin‐carrying domain to shuttle a carboxyl group between two catalytic sites, enabling carboxylation of 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA during leucine breakdown. Cryo‐electron microscopy captures the carrier at both sites and reveals an inward loop movement that may prevent futile rebinding to the ...

Fourier Analysis on Coset Spaces
Let \(G\) be a locally compact group with a closed subgroup \(H\). In this paper natural analogs are defined and studied of the Fourier and Fourier-Stieltjes algebras for the homogeneous space \(G/H\) of left cosets of \(H\) in \(G\). In particular, for a compact subgroup \(K\) it is shown that the Fourier algebra \(A(G/K)\) is a regular Banach algebra

Optimal Spacing in Regression Analysis
When a response (or dependent) variable $y$ can be observed for a continuous range of values of the independent variable $x$, which is at the control of the experimenter, the question arises as to how a given number of observations should be spaced.

How do genomes gain new functional parts? In eukaryotes, which tend to evolve under weak selection, much of the genome is junk. Palazzo and Qiu borrow the logic of Markov chains to show how non‐functional DNA becomes functional through the appearance of intermediate states, which arise due to epistasis, buffering, and biochemical messiness, allowing ...

Historical magnetograms are fundamental records for space weather, space climate, and geomagnetism. However, they have rarely been published in searchable or viewable formats, posing a significant barrier to their use by the scientific community.

Chiral separation of chloroalkanes with the chromatographic column onboard Martian rovers
Computer image of the Rosalind Franklin Rover of ESA's ExoMars mission. ExoMars is scheduled to land on planet Mars in Oxia Planum in 2029. This area represents an interesting spot to look for biosignatures. Investigations of ExoMars include measurement on molecular chirality. We show that chiral chloroalkanes, that have been identified on Mars, can be

Measuring space radiation shielding effectiveness
Passive radiation shielding is one strategy to mitigate the problem of space radiation exposure. While space vehicles are constructed largely of aluminum, polyethylene has been demonstrated to have superior shielding characteristics for both galactic ...
