The chromo-weibel instability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
I discuss the physics of non-Abelian plasmas which are locally anisotropic in momentum space. Such momentum-space anisotropies are generated by the rapid longitudinal expansion of the matter created in the first 1 fm/c of an ultrarelativistic heavy ion ...

The nonextensive parameter for the rotating astrophysical systems with power-law distributions

open access: yes, 2016
We study the nonextensive parameter for the rotating astrophysical systems with power-law distributions, including both the rotating self-gravitating system and the rotating space plasma. We extend the equation of nonextensive parameter to complex system

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Hard-loop dynamics of non-abelian plasma instabilities

open access: yes, 2005
I discuss recent advances in the understanding of non-equilibrium gauge field dynamics in plasmas which have particle distributions which are locally anisotropic in momentum space.

Lower-hybrid waves generated by anomalous Doppler resonance in auroral plasmas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper describes sonic aspects of lower-hybrid wave activity in space plasmas. Lower-hybrid waves are particularly important since they can transfer energy efficiently between electrons and ions in a collisionless magnetized plasma.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Magnetic Island Structures Associated with Kinetic Alfvén Solitary Wave in Two-fluid Plasma

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We investigate the formation of magnetic islands and the onset of tearing instability within kinetic Alfvén solitary waves in a two-fluid space plasma. These localized structures, featuring internal magnetic shear, naturally support magnetic reconnection

Fourier-Hermite decomposition of the collisional Vlasov-Maxwell system: implications for the velocity space cascade [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Turbulence at kinetic scales is an unresolved and ubiquitous phenomenon that characterizes both space and laboratory plasmas. Recently, new theories, {\it in-situ} spacecraft observations and numerical simulations suggest a novel scenario for turbulence,

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Observations of Electron Secondary Reconnection in Magnetic Reconnection Front

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Magnetic reconnection, a fundamental plasma process transforming magnetic field energy into particle energy, is ubiquitous in space and responsible for many explosive phenomena, such as solar flares and gamma-ray bursts.
