Skeletons of swiftly swimming sharks: Three‐dimensional analysis of lamniform vertebral morphology and mineral architecture

We examined morphology, 3D arrangement, and mineral amount in cartilaginous vertebrae from four lamniform shark families (Alopiidae, Carchariidae, Cetorhinidae, and Lamnidae). We identified family‐specific mineralization trends, and regional patterning of structures along the column.

Multiscale analysis of the adult human superior hypogastric plexus and hypogastric nerve

Using tissue clearing and light‐sheet microscopy methods, we visualized the 3D mesoscopic arrangement of neural tracts, blood vessels and neurons within the adult human superior hypogastric plexus and hypogastric nerves, identifying the latter to contain thousands of neuronal cells bodies embedded along its entire length.

ABSTRACT Many, perhaps even most, philosophers hold that, in order to promise someone something, the promisor must intend to communicate what they are promising. I argue against this claim, explain why it matters to the nature of promising, and sketch an alternative picture of normatively powerful speech acts.
