Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

CUDA-based parallel acceleration algorithm for wavelet denoising of airborne γ-ray spectrometry data

open access: yesHe jishu
BackgroundThe volume of aviation gamma spectrum data is immense. If only a central processing unit (CPU) is used for data post-processing, it would be constrained by computational efficiency.PurposeThis study aims to propose a CUDA-based graphics ...

Building evaluation using two components of acceleration time histories causes by shallow crustal fault earthquakes with maximum magnitude 7 Mw

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Spectral acceleration and acceleration time histories are the two seismic loads generally used for dynamic analysis of a building. The structural design of buildings is implemented using spectral acceleration at the ground surface obtained from the ...

Spectral Evolution of Two High-Energy Gamma-Ray Bursts

open access: yes, 2004
The prompt emission of the gamma-ray bursts is found to be very energetic, releasing ~10^51 ergs in a flash. However, their emission mechanism remains unclear and understanding their spectra is a key to determining the emission mechanism.

Accelerating spectral clustering on quantum and analog platforms

open access: yesAcademia Quantum
We introduce a novel hybrid quantum–analog algorithm to perform a graph clustering that exploits connections between the evolution of dynamical systems on graphs and the underlying graph spectra. This approach constitutes a new class of algorithms that combine emerging quantum and analog platforms to accelerate computations.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Particle acceleration in ultra-relativistic oblique shock waves

open access: yes, 2002
We perform Monte Carlo simulations of diffusive shock acceleration at highly relativistic oblique shock waves. High upstream flow Lorentz gamma factors are used, which are relevant to models of ultra relativistic particle shock acceleration in Active ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Kernel Density Estimation Based Gaussian and Non-Gaussian Random Vibration Data Induction for High-Speed Train Equipment

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Because general statistics tolerance is not applicable to the induction of non-Gaussian vibration data and the methods for converting non-Gaussian data into Gaussian data are not always effective and can increase the estimation error, a novel kernel ...
