The spectral element method as an efficient tool for transient simulations of hydraulic systems

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents transient numerical simulations of hydraulic systems in engineering applications using the spectral element method (SEM). Along with a detailed description of the underlying numerical method, it is shown that the SEM yields highly ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

A MHD reverse flow in 90 degree bend

open access: yes, 2018
A two-dimensional flow in a 90 degree bent channel is considered. A magnetic field is uniform and parallel to inlet branch of the channel. A spectral/hp element method was used for liquid motion calculations. Three types of steady flows were detected. It

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Unfitted Spectral Element Method for Interfacial Models

open access: yesCommunications in Computational Physics
In this paper, we propose an unfitted spectral element method for solving elliptic interface and corresponding eigenvalue problems. The novelty of the proposed method lies in its combination of the spectral accuracy of the spectral element method and the flexibility of the unfitted Nitsche’s method.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

On the solution of boundary value problems by the spectral element method

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Математика сериясы, 2015
In spectral element method approximate solution of the original differential operator is found in the form of a combination of the linearly independent system of orthogonal functions on the unit interval.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
