Varicocele-Associated Infertility and the Role of Oxidative Stress on Sperm DNA Fragmentation

open access: yesFrontiers in Reproductive Health, 2021
Varicocele has been extensively described and studied as the most important reversible cause of male infertility. Its impact on semen parameters, pregnancy rates, and assisted reproductive outcomes have been associated with multifactorial aspects, most ...

Testicular mRNA‐LNP Delivery: A Novel Therapy for Genetic Spermatogenic Disorders

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the current study, we developed a novel therapy for genetic spermatogenic disorders. It was revealed that in vivo delivery of mRNA LNP3 could restore spermatogenesis in Msh5D486Y/D486Y and Maps KO mouse models with meiotic arrest. Notably, the offspring without genomic integration was born using ICSI derived from the rescue of Msh5D486Y/D486Y mouse ...

Influence of Bacteriospermia, Host and Lifestyle Factors on Sperm DNA Integrity: A Cross-Sectional Study Based on a Fertility Center of Nepal

open access: yesJournal of Family and Reproductive Health
Objective: To determine the sperm DNA fragmentation in the semen of suspected sub-fertile men of Nepal and find its association with bacteriospermia demographic and lifestyle factors. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with the

Smoke, alcohol and drug addiction and male fertility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In recent decades, the decline in human fertility has become increasingly more worrying: while therapeutic interventions might help, they are vexing for the couple and often burdened with high failure rates and costs.

The effect of sperm DNA fragmentation on intracytoplasmic sperm injection outcome

open access: yesAndrologia, 2021
Our study objective was to assess the effect of various sperm DNA fragmentation levels on clinical intracytoplasmic sperm injection outcome. This retrospective study included 392 patients who underwent ICSI and performed sperm DNA fragmentation testing ...

Amphibian sperm DNA fragmentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
There are extremely limited studies that have investigated DNA fragmentation in amphibians and even less information exists pertaining to DNA fragmentation in the spermatozoa. A DNA fragmentation assay applied and validated for amphibian spermatozoa would not only provide the first evidence of this phenomenon in a new major taxon, but also prove a ...

Reactive oxygen species and sperm DNA fragmentation [PDF]

open access: yesTranslational Andrology and Urology, 2017
Dr. Dada demonstrated her extensive knowledge about sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) in her elegantly written commentary with a comprehensive discussion on issues such as genetic health of offspring, value of SDF testing in lifestyle factors, modification of SDF by oocyte, role of sperm preparation, concept of reductive stress, methodology of SDF testing,

A Testis‐Specific Aralkylamine N‐Acetyltransferase Regulates Dimorphic Sperm Function and Male Fertility in Moths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identify a Lepidoptera‐conserved testis‐specific arylalkylamine N‐acetyltransferase (LTNAT) that governs male moth fertility via a novel mechanism. LTNAT loss disrupts eupyrene sperm mitochondrial derivatives and impairs apyrene sperm motility, offering a safe molecular target for innovative pesticides and genetic pest control.

Comparison of three sperm selection methods for ICSI-DGC, Cumulus column, and incubation with supernatant product of adipose tissue-derived adult stem cells: An experimental study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Reproductive BioMedicine, 2021
Background: The examination of sperm parameters and sperm DNA integrity are necessary for male fertility expression. These parameters can be affected by method of sperm separation.
