This study discovered CfHSP70‐2, a heat shock protein expressed in the testis of a forest lepidopteran pest spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana, during late pupal and adult stages primarily found in round spermatids during spermatogenesis. Heat shock, starvation, and chemical heat shock protein activators were unable to alter expression.

ABSTRACT While molecular signature contributes to sperm quality and fertility potential, sperm may lost key molecules during cryopreservation. Since sperm cells are transcriptionally inert and rely on interactions with epididymosomes (epEVs) to acquire molecules, herein, we investigated the effects of the addition of epEVs to the cryopreservation ...

Acute Dietary Zinc Deficiency Impairs Sperm Motility but Not Gonadal mRNA Methylation in Mice
Male and female mice were fed a control or zinc‐deficient diet for 6 days. In males, cauda epididymal sperm were analyzed for number, motility, and morphology, and testes were assessed by histology, while m6A mRNA methylation was measured in the testis and liver of males and the ovary and liver of females.

Karyotype depends on sperm head morphology in some amniote groups
The karyotype of an organism is the set of gross features that characterize the way the genome is packaged into separate chromosomes. It has been known for decades that different taxonomic groups often have distinct karyotypic features, but whether ...

Three-dimensional reconstruction of rat sperm using volume electron microscopy
Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction serves as a crucial instrument for the analysis of biological structures. In particular, a comprehensive and accurate 3D ultrastructural examination of rat sperm is vital for understanding and diagnosing male ...

Spermiogenesis is a critical, post-meiotic phase of male gametogenesis, in which the proper gene expression is essential for sperm maturation. However, the underFlying molecular mechanism that controls mRNA expression in the round spermatids remains ...
