Recent Progress in the Phase‐Controlled Synthesis of Ruthenium Nanocrystals for Catalytic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Template effect and kinetic control enable crystal‐phase engineering of Ru nanocrystals, granting access to either metastable fcc‐Ru or stable hcp‐Ru with distinct surface structures, thermal stabilities, and catalytic behaviors. Moreover, the hcp‐Ru can further serve as an epitaxial template to direct Pd and Rh nanocrystals into the metastable hcp ...

Processing of alginate spheroids / Nurhayati Azizan

open access: yes, 2013
The production of alginate spheroids by using extrusion-spheronization method were investigated in this study. The alginate spheroids were formed by using alginate and SW25 as binding liquid.

Microgels Enable iPSCs to Assemble, Expand, and Differentiate Into Organoids—From Sizable to High‐Throughput

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A chemically defined PEG‐based microgel platform enables scalable, reproducible production of three‐dimensional microgel‐iPSC constructs in multiple sizes. The system is compatible with high‐throughput automation and supports human iPSC expansion and differentiation within a single construct, including directed differentiation into cardiac organoids ...

Mechanoactive Biomaterials for Cell–Matrix Mechanotransduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract shows how individual triggers (force, light, or temperature) and combined optothermal or receptor‐targeted actuation induce material responses at the tissue, cellular, and receptor scales. Their spatial (global or focused) and temporal (continuous or cyclic) modulation determines the resulting mechanical output.

A Noninvasive Approach to Study Localized Forces in 3D Epithelia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Epithelial morphogenesis depends on dynamic mechanical coupling between adhesion complexes and the cytoskeleton, yet its regulation in polarized 3D tissues remains elusive. We developed a noninvasive strategy using cell‐like elastic microbeads to quantify local forces in intact epithelia.

Penetration of DOX into Panc-1 spheroids.

open access: yes, 2013
Penetration was evaluated by imaging DOX autofluorescence in sections of spheroids. Spheroids were cultured in a concave microwell 600 plate for 5 μM for 12 h.

Millifluidic Synthesis of Core–Shell Resonators For Tunable Sonic BandGaps in Acoustic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Millimeter‐scale core–shell acoustic resonators are fabricated by a gravity‐assisted dripping approach and incorporated into epoxy composites at controlled volume fractions. The resulting alumina–core resonator composites show tunable low‐frequency acoustic attenuation, demonstrating a scalable route for integrating locally resonant metamaterial units ...

Reduced Graphene Oxide Enhances the Vascular Organization and Contractile Performance of Fibrin‐Gelatin‐Based Engineered Cardiac Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Fibrin–gelatin hydrogels functionalized with reduced graphene oxide create a mechanically stable and bioactive 3D environment for engineered cardiac tissue. The composite matrix promotes endothelial lumen formation, enhances sarcomeric protein expression, and increases contractile performance of embedded cardiomyocytes.
