Cellular lipid composition is a dynamic process. Understanding it is important to improve recombinant protein production. Molecules with solvatochromic properties allow the determination of lipids of different polarities by flow cytometry and offer a useful method for monitoring lipids during different phases of cell growth in bioprocesses.
