Histiocytes: Multifaceted Regulators of Health and Disease

open access: yesVeterinary Clinical Pathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The mononuclear phagocyte system encompasses macrophages, dendritic cells (DCs), and monocytes. Tissue‐resident macrophages and dendritic cells arise during embryogenesis and are replenished either through self‐renewal or by monocytes during inflammation.

Generation of Allogeneic CAR‐T Circumvents Functional Deficits in Patient‐Derived Autologous Product for Glioblastoma

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 6, Page 1521-1534, 15 September 2026.
Clinical trials of chimeric antigen receptor T‐cell (CAR‐T) therapies in glioblastoma have shown limited clinical benefits. Whether this may be explained by the basal quality of CAR‐T products, which are currently generated using patient, autologous T‐cells, has been little explored.

Comparative Effectiveness Analysis of Phase 3 Clinical Trials in Moderately to Severely Active Inflammatory Bowel Disease Reveals Increased Harm From Placebo and Challenges Equipoise

open access: yesJCC Plus, Volume 1, Issue 5, September 2026.
Across 47 Phase 3 trials in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, placebo exposure was associated with measurable harm. Disease exacerbation events showed the greatest excess risk, with one additional exacerbation occurring for every 8–13 patients assigned to placebo rather than active therapy.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Advances

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2026.
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), encompassing ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, is a rising, multifactorial chronic disorder driven by dysregulated mucosal immunity in genetically susceptible individuals and influenced by environmental and microbial factors.

Sphingosine-1-Phosphate (S1P) Receptor Modulators for the Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD): Mechanisms, Clinical Evidence, and Practical Insights

open access: yesBiomedicines
Inflammatory bowel disease commonly requires advanced therapies to induce and maintain durable remission. Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor modulators are the latest class of orally administered small molecules that have been added to the therapeutic ...

Targeting progressive multiple sclerosis: Toward mechanism‐informed precision medicine

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 300, Issue 3, Page 238-257, September 2026.
Abstract Multiple sclerosis has undergone a therapeutic revolution over the past three decades. Randomized clinical trials and real‐world data demonstrate that modern disease‐modifying therapies substantially reduce relapse rates and acute inflammatory activity detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

MEOX1 Coordinates Autocrine‐Paracrine Programs via SPHK1/S1P to Promote Lymph Node Metastasis in Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 43, 3 August 2026.
In ovarian cancer, MEOX1 activates the SPHK1/S1P pathway to promote both tumor progression and tumor–stroma crosstalk. MEOX1‐dependent signaling drives CAF activation, enhances VEGF‐C expression, and stimulates lymphangiogenesis, ultimately facilitating lymph node metastasis.

Microbiota–Neuroinflammation Crosstalk in Primary Brain Tumors: Focus on Glioblastoma

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Microbiota–neuroinflammation crosstalk in GBM. The schematic summarizes how gut microbiota and microbiota‐derived signals may influence GBM biology through gut–brain signaling, microbial metabolites, systemic immune modulation, BBB‐related pathways, tumor‐associated microbial signals, and immune‐metabolic changes within the GBM microenvironment.
