Alkylating spin labels for spin-labelling of DNA
International Journal of Biochemistry, 1983Abstract 1. 1. Five alkylating spin labels, termed SL1, SL2, SL3, SL4 and SL5, have been synthesized and their suitability for spin-labelling of DNA was studied. 2. 2. It was found that one of them (SL5) lost its free radical moiety under the conditions of spin-labelling, thus giving DNA with no EPR signal. 3. 3.

The binding of spin-labeled propranolol and spin-labeled progesterone by orosomucoid
Biophysical Chemistry, 1982The binding of the spin-labeled propranolol and spin-labeled progesterone to human orosomucoid has been studied as a function of temperature by electron spin resonance (ESR) techniques. At 20 degrees C the association constants are 1.9 x 10(6) and 4.9 x 10(5) M-1, respectively. In each case, the binding is competitive with unlabeled ligand. Above about

Iodoacetamide and its spin-labeled derivative in high concentration ranges (10−2−10−1M) react with unexposed SH-groups of rhodopsin in the dark. The spin-labels bound to these SH-groups are moderately immobilized. While rhodopsin is not spin-labeled with the iodoacetamide at a lower concentration (5 × 10−4 m) in the dark, photobleached rhodopsin is ...

Biosynthesis of spin-labeled peptidoglycan: spin-spin interactions
Biochemistry, 1977Membrane preparations from Gaffkya homari catalyzed the in vitro biosynthesis of soluble uncross-linked spin-labeled peptidoglycan, a uniformly labeled polynitroxide, from the spin-labeled nucleotide UDP-MurNAc-Ala-DGlu-Lys(Nepsilon-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-1-pyrrolin-1-oxyl-3-carbonyl)-DAla-DAla (I) and UDP-GlcNAc.

Summary The facultative yeast cells have been spin-labeled biosynthetically with the 12-nitroxide stearic acid label under aerobic as well as anaerobic conditions. ESR spectra of the aerobic cells were different from those of the anaerobic cells. The signal intensity of the aerobic cells decreased upon removal of oxygen from the culture.

Recent developments in spin labelling
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1998Enhancements in spin-lattice relaxation rates of spin-labelled systems are considered both in terms of recent advances in nonlinear EPR methodology and in terms of the structural and dynamic biophysical information that can be obtained from such measurements at the molecular level.
