Effect of spironolactone on pain responses in mice [PDF]
The effects of spironolactone, a non-selective aldosterone antagonist, were examined on thermally-induced pain using the hot-plate and tail-flick tests, on hemogenic pain induced by intraplantar capsaicin, on electrically-induced pain, on visceral ...

Rapid and MR-Independent IK1 activation by aldosterone during ischemia-reperfusion [PDF]
In ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) context, clinical studies have shown the deleterious effect of high aldosterone levels on ventricular arrhythmia occurrence and cardiac mortality.

Abstract This clinical consensus statement revisits the role of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) as a measurement of cardiac function, a prognostic marker and a major criterion to classify patients with heart failure, and gives new advice for clinical practice.

Effect of low-dose spironolactone on resistant hypertension in type 2 diabetes mellitus: a randomized controlled trial in a sub-Saharan African population [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Low-dose spironolactone has been proven to be effective for resistant hypertension in the general population, but this has yet to be confirmed in type 2 diabetic (T2DM) patients.

Abstract Aims Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is a prevalent cause of mortality among patients with cardio‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) diseases. Mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs) reduce the risk of SCD in patients with left ventricular dysfunction, but it is unclear if similar effects are expected across different CKM risk populations irrespective of

Comparison of the efficiency of anti-androgenic regimens consisting of spironolactone, Diane 35, and cyproterone acetate in hirsutism. [PDF]
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of three different anti-androgenic drug-therapy regimens, Diane 35 (cyproterone acetate (CPA) [2 mg] and ethinyl estradiol [35 microg]) plus CPA, Diane 35 plus spironolactone, and spironolactone ...

Finerenone and glycaemic status in patients with heart failure with mildly reduced/preserved ejection fraction. CI, confidence interval; CV, cardiovascular; HF, heart failure; HR, hazard ratio; RR, rate ratio. Abstract Aims The efficacy and safety of the non‐steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist, finerenone, have not been examined in patients

Background: Preclinical studies recently showed that the mineralocorticoid antagonist spironolactone acts also as an antagonist of the NRG1-ERBB4 signaling pathway and improves schizophrenia-like behaviour in Nrg1 transgenic mouse model.

The prevalence of resistant arterial hypertension and secondary causes in a cohort of hypertensive patients: a single center experience [PDF]
The prevalence of resistant hypertension (RHT) still remains unknown. Aim of the study was to investigate in a large cohort of hypertensive patients the prevalence of RHT, and to identify in these patients the secondary forms of arterial hypertension (SH)

This systematic review included seven studies that reported the outcomes of minimization or withdrawal of oral pharmacotherapy in chronic heart failure (HF) patients with improved myocardial function. There is a dearth of existing evidence, which supports only loop diuretic withdrawal and possibly carvedilol monotherapy.
