Silicon Nanowire Mats Enable Advanced Bioelectrical Recordings in Primary DRG Cell Cultures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
SiNW mat‐based MEA (NW_MEA) enables continuous intracellular recordings from neurons in primary rat DRG cell cultures, identifying C‐fiber nociceptors. Supported by an astrocyte feeder layer, SiNW mat promotes DRG neuron and glial cell growth, preserving in vivo‐like cell characteristics and allowing drug‐modulated activity monitoring.

Magnetic‐Driven Torque‐Induced Electrical Stimulation for Millisecond‐Scale Wireless Neuromodulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
MagTIES is a wireless neuromodulation technique with millisecond precision. It employs magnetic‐driven torque from magnetite nanodiscs to activate piezoelectric nanoparticles, enabling precise temporal control of neuronal activity and brain oscillations using weak, low‐frequency magnetic fields.

Effective RAT Selection Approach for 5G Dense Wireless Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Dense Networks (DenseNet) and Multi-Radio Access Technologies (Multi-RATs) are considered as key features of the emerging fifth generation (5G) wireless systems. A Multi-RAT DenseNet is characterized by a very dense deployment of low-power base stations (BSs) and by a multi-tier architecture consisting of heterogeneous radio access technologies. Such a

The effect of developmental vitamin D deficiency in male and female Sprague-Dawley rats on decision-making using a rodent gambling task [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Developmental vitamin D (DVD) deficiency is a plausible risk factor for schizophrenia that has been associated with behavioural alterations including disruptions in latent inhibition and response inhibition.

Permeation Enhancer‐based Ionogel Shows Remarkable Potential for Oral Insulin Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes a novel formulation of decanoate in an ionic liquid inspired drug delivery system. The formulation demonstrates ideal physicochemical and material properties for oral peptide delivery. Findings indicate that choline decanoate (1:2 molar ratio) forms a viscoelastic gel that enables high oral bioavailability of insulin in rats ...

CYP3A Mediated Ketamine Metabolism is Severely Impaired in Liver S9 Fractions from Aging Sprague Dawley Rats [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Ketamine is widely used in veterinary medicine and in medicine. Ketamine is metabolized to its active metabolite norketamine principally by liver CYP3A. Drug metabolism alterations during aging have severe consequences particularly in anesthesiology and very few studies on older animals were conducted for ketamine. The objective of the present study is

Mesoporous Fe3O4 Nanoparticles Loaded with IR‐820 for Antibacterial Activity via Magnetic Hyperthermia Combined with Photodynamic Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study addresses bacterial biofilm resistance by developing mesoporous Fe3O4 nanoparticles loaded with photosensitizer IR‐820, enabling combined antimicrobial photodynamic therapyand magnetic hyperthermia therapy. The system achieves magnetic targeting, heat‐triggered drug release under alternating magnetic fields, and near‐infrared‐induced ROS ...

Infinitesimal K-theory [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Reine Angew. Math. 503 (1998), 129-160, 2000
In this paper we study the fiber F of the rational Jones-Goodwillie character $$ F:=\hofiber(ch:K^\rat(A)@>>>HN^\rat(A)) $$ going from K-theory to negative cyclic homology of associative rings. We describe this fiber F in terms of sheaf cohomology. We prove that, for $n\ge 1$, there is an isomorphism: $$ \pi_n(F)\cong H^{-n}_{inf}(A,K^\rat) $$ between ...
