Spurious-mode suppression in optoelectronic oscillators

2010 IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium, 2010
Optoelectronic oscillators (OEOs) are promising low phase noise radio frequency sources. However, the long fiber loops required for a high Oscillator Q also lead to spurious modes (spurs) spaced too narrowly to be filtered by standard electronic devices.

Spurious results of the component mode synthesis

Computers & Structures, 1973
Abstract The natural frequencies and mode shapes of a bentbeam in flexure-torsion oscillation are examined using the modal synthesis technique. The problem involves six boundary constraint conditions and the effect of ignoring a number of these conditions are examined. The choice of generalized coordinates offer other variations in the problem.

Identification of Spurious Modes in Circulators (Correspondence)

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1971
The spurious, and sometimes troublesome spikes in circulator characteristics are shown by analysis and experiment to be due to hybrid resonant modes of the ferrite post open-resonator structure. They can be excited by axial nonuniformities such as imperfect contact between the ferrite and the conducting walls, but they cannot exist in axially uniform ...

Spurious Mode Suppression in Coupled Resonator Filters

IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2005., 2005
The Coupled Resonator Filter (CRF) is a new type of Bulk-Acoustic-Wave (BAW) device in which two piezoresonators are stacked on top of each other in a way that a certain degree of acoustic interaction occurs. For a proper frequency response, a method for suppression of spurious resonances is of utmost importance.

Balanced bandpass filter with spurious mode suppression

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2017
ABSTRACTThis article presents a new and simple design approach for the balanced bandpass filter (BPF) with spurious mode suppression using half‐wavelength resonators. The second harmonic of the resonator, acting as the lowest‐frequency common‐mode (CM) noise, is suppressed by using a new differential feeding scheme. Furthermore, an electrically coupled

Spurious modes suppression in Stacked Crystal Filter

2010 IEEE Long Island Systems, Applications and Technology Conference, 2010
Stacked Crystal Filters (SCFs) are used in Bandpass filters and other applications where frequency control is required. SCFs use the Solidly Mounted Resonator (SMR) structure to enable operations at RF frequencies, typically 1–5 GHz. In the response spectrum of the SCFs, besides the main resonance mode, there are some unwanted additional modes present ...

The Maxwell’s System and Spurious Modes

2016
This chapter begins with the construction of different approximations of Maxwell’s equations by finite element methods and the comparison of their performance versus discontinuous Galekin methods. Then, we treat the important and not obvious problem of spurious modes which appear in most approximations and we indicate how to suppress these modes.

AlN/Al0.8Sc0.2N film S mode lamb wave resonator with spurious mode suppression

Journal of Applied Physics, 2022
High-performance Lamb wave devices have a vast application prospect in modern wireless communication systems. This paper proposes a method of spurious mode suppression by reducing the overlap length of electrodes according to modal shapes. The AlN/Al0.8Sc0.2N composite film is used to achieve a trade-off between electromechanical coupling coefficient ...

Spurious Mode Free 3.5GHz AlN Plate Mode Resonator with High FoM

2018 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2018
This work reports a spurious mode free AlN plate mode resonator with high figure-of-merit (FoM) operating at 3.5GHz. The reported resonator, which comprises of two sets of $0.27\ \mu \text{m}$ -thick top molybdenum (Mo) interdigitated electrodes (IDE) fingers attached to a layer of $1\ \mu \text{m}$ -thick AlN, has an IDE pitch $(p)$ of 1m and a ...

Spurious Mode Generation in Nonuniform Waveguide

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1959
This paper deals with the problem of a nonuniform waveguide joining two uniform ones and the spurious modes generated by it when a pure mode is incident in one of the uniform waveguides. The generalised telegraphist's equations are stated and transformed into a set of differential equations for the amplitudes of the forward and backward traveling waves.
