Carbon‐Supported Catalytic Systems Assembled by π–π Interactions

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
This review explores the noncovalent immobilization of organic and organometallic catalysts on carbonaceous supports through π–π interactions, highlighting its potential to enhance catalyst recovery, recyclability, and the sustainability of organic synthesis.

A Squaramide-Based Organocatalyst as a Novel Versatile Chiral Solvating Agent for Carboxylic Acids

open access: yesMolecules
A squaramide-based organocatalyst for asymmetric Michael reactions has been tested as a chiral solvating agent (CSA) for 26 carboxylic acids and camphorsulfonic acid, encompassing amino acid derivatives, mandelic acid, as well as some of its analogs ...

Asymmetric Sequential Michael Addition and Cyclization Reactions of 2-(2-Nitrovinyl)phenols Catalyzed by Bifunctional Amino-Squaramides

open access: yesSynOpen, 2021
In this work, we describe the Michael addition–cyclization reaction of 2-(2-nitrovinyl)phenol with two different reactive Michael donors, which lead to chiral benzopyran derivatives.

Selective N‐Functionalization of Pyrazoles

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 40, 27 October 2026.
This review traces the evolution of regioselective N‐functionalization strategies for pyrazoles, a key class of nitrogen heterocycles widely used in medicinal chemistry. Due to rapid tautomerism, N‐functionalization often lacks selectivity, leading to poor and unpredictable regioisomeric outcomes.

Computational Insights Into Hexafluoroisopropanol‐Promoted Activator‐Free Gold Catalysis and Ligand Reactivity Trends

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 10, October 2026.
This computational study reveals mechanistic origins of activator‐free gold catalysis in HFIP, showing hydrogen‐bond‐assisted activation rather than chloride abstraction. Turnover‐limiting transition states govern activity, strongly modulated by ligand sterics and electronics, while gold uniquely outperforms silver and copper analogues systems ...

Simple squaramide receptors for highly efficient anion binding in aqueous media and transmembrane transport [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A family of acyclic squaramide receptors (L1-L5) have been synthesised with the aim to bind anions in a competitive solvent mixture and to evaluate how the presence of additional H-bond donor groups on the squaramide scaffold could affect the affinity ...

Enantioselective Michael/Hemiketalization Cascade Reactions between Hydroxymaleimides and 2-Hydroxynitrostyrenes for the Construction of Chiral Chroman-Fused Pyrrolidinediones

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
In this paper, the organocatalytic asymmetric Michael addition/hemiketalization cascade reactions between hydroxymaleimides and 2-hydroxynitrostyrenes were developed, which provided a new protocol for building a chiral ring-fused chroman skeleton.

A Multi‐Scale Computational Framework for Anti‐Persister Tuberculosis Drug Discovery

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 108, Issue 4, October 2026.
This review presents an integrated QSAR–scaffold design–docking–MD framework for discovering anti‐persister tuberculosis agents active in dormant granuloma‐like conditions. By targeting Mtb bioenergetics and prioritising dual NDH‐2/cytochrome bd oxidase inhibition, the workflow advances rational design of candidates with higher resistance barriers ...

Squaramide Equilibrium Acidities in DMSO

open access: yes, 2016
A number of popular squaramide organocatalysts’ acidities were determined by an overlapping indicator method in DMSO via UV spectrophotometric titrations. The pKa values are in the range of 8.37–16.46.
