CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Differences in itch and pain behaviors accompanying the irritant and allergic contact dermatitis produced by a contact allergen in mice

open access: yesPAIN Reports, 2019
. Introduction:. Irritant contact dermatitis (ICD) and allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) are inflammatory skin diseases accompanied by itch and pain. Irritant contact dermatitis is caused by chemical irritants eliciting an innate immune response, whereas

Effect of topical immunotherapy with squaric acid dibutylester for alopecia areata in Japanese patients

open access: yesAllergology International, 2020
Background: The Japanese guidelines for the treatment of alopecia areata list topical immunotherapies as a drug therapy for this condition. However, there is insufficient evidence of its efficacy to support this recommendation. Thus, we sought to clarify

Tellurite-squarate driven assembly of a new family of nanoscale clusters based on (Mo2O2S2)2+ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We report the preparation and characterization of a new family of four polyoxothiometalate (POTM) clusters, with varying size and complexity, based upon the dimeric [Mo2O2S2(H2O)6]2+ with the general formula (NMe4)aKb[(Mo2O2S2)c(TeO4)d(C4O4)e(OH)f] where

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.
