Real-time observation of signal recognition particle binding to actively translating ribosomes

open access: yeseLife, 2014
The signal recognition particle (SRP) directs translating ribosome-nascent chain complexes (RNCs) that display a signal sequence to protein translocation channels in target membranes.

A nonlinear high temperature fracture mechanics basis for strainrange partitioning [PDF]

open access: yes
A direct link was established between Strainrange Partitioning (SRP) and high temperature fracture mechanics by deriving the general SRP inelastic strain range versus cyclic life relationships from high temperature, nonlinear, fracture mechanics ...

Refining the timing of Middle Pleistocene (MIS 12 to MIS 6) ice advances into northern central Europe: sedimentological analysis and single‐grain luminescence dating of glaciotectonic complexes and tunnel‐valley fills

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.

What Goes First? Effects of Starvation on the Body Condition of a Neotropical Dung Beetle

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
We investigated how prolonged starvation affects key physiological traits in the dung beetle Dichotomius bos. Prolonged starvation leads to significant reductions in body dry mass and fat reserves, while muscle mass remains unchanged. These findings indicate that dung beetles prioritize the maintenance of locomotor muscles while mobilizing stored ...

Rainfall shapes the physiological condition, but not the body size, of an introduced dung beetle in Brazilian pastures

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
Understanding rainfall‐driven physiological shifts in dung beetles is crucial to predict how climate change may affect the fitness and persistence of key insect species in tropical pastures. We compared body size, dry, lipid and muscle masses of Digitonthophagus gazella collected during dry and rainy seasons in Brazilian pastures to assess the effects ...

A Study on Physical Performance for Poly(L-lactic acid) in Addition to Layered Strontium Phenylphosphonate

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, 2016
The organic-inorganic hybrid layered strontium phenylphosphonate (SrP) was synthesized by using strontium chloride and phenylphosphinic acid. And the influence of layered SrP on the crystallization behavior and thermal stability of poly(L-lactic acid ...

Who prefers the dark? Daily activity of dung beetles from an Amazonian region

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
Daily activity patterns shape how dung beetle species coexist in Amazonian forests, revealing temporal niches that reduce competition and structure biodiversity. We compared species richness, abundance and assemblage composition of dung beetles sampled during day and night in a conserved terra‐firme forest in the Brazilian Amazon. Although richness and

TNF‑α Gene Polymorphisms as Determinants of Alloantibody Emergence in Hemophilia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesHaemophilia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Inhibitor development remains one of the most serious complications of replacement therapy in patients with hemophilia. Tumour necrosis factor‐alpha (TNF‐α) is a key pro‐inflammatory cytokine, and its genetic variants have been implicated in immune‐related conditions.

Ductility normalized-strainrange partitioning life relations for creep-fatigue life predictions [PDF]

open access: yes
Procedures based on Strainrange Partitioning (SRP) are presented for estimating the effects of environment and other influences on the high temperature, low cycle, creep fatigue resistance of alloys. It is proposed that the plastic and creep, ductilities
