Characterization of tomato genotypes by simple sequence repeats (SSR) molecular markers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Microsatellites are highly polymorphic regions containing gene loci represented by multiple alleles of different lengths and nucleotide sequences. The purpose of this study was to identify reproducible specific molecular profiles of tomato varieties and F1 hybrids from the collection of the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute, Bulgaria, and of ...

Natural variation in the GNH1 promoter enhances plant height and grain yield in rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Natural variation in the GRAIN NUMBER AND PLANT HEIGHT 1 (GNH1) promoter alleviates repression by the C2H2‐type transcription factor ZFP36, upregulating GNH1 expression and promoting auxin accumulation, thereby increasing rice plant height and grain yield. This elite allele serves as a valuable genetic resource for molecular breeding of high‐yield rice.

Genome‐wide association study of morphometric and metabolic characteristics in European populations of the sugar kelp Saccharina latissima

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract The sugar kelp Saccharina latissima is a promising candidate for sustainable aquaculture in the North Atlantic and Northeast Pacific, but genetic improvement has been hindered by a limited understanding of the genetic basis of economically important traits.

Genome-wide identification and characterization of functionally relevant microsatellite markers from transcription factor genes of Tea (Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze)

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Tea, being one of the most popular beverages requires large set of molecular markers for genetic improvement of quality, yield and stress tolerance. Identification of functionally relevant microsatellite or simple sequence repeat (SSR) marker resources ...

Genetic, phenotypic, and ecological differentiation indicate a new cryptic and threatened species in the orchid genus Epidendrum from Alcatrazes Island, southeastern Brazil

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, EarlyView.
Epidendrum insularis occurs on the remote Alcatrazes Island in the southeastern Brazilian coast. The description of this new cryptic species was only possible by the joint use of molecular markers, reproductive experiments, flower morphometry, functional traits, and community analysis.

Genetic Structure of SSR1 & SSR2 loci from Iranian Mycobacterium Avium Subspecies Paratuberculosis Isolates by a Short Sequence Repeat Analysis Approach

open access: yesMedical Laboratory Journal, 2015
Background and Objective: Paratuberculosis has been repeatedly reported from Iranian ruminant herds. The extrem fastidious nature of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculsos hinders genomic diversity studies of the pathogen.
