Molecular characterization of some selected persimmon genotypes and cultivars by srap and ssr markers

open access: yesGenetika, 2017
In this study, SRAP and SSR markers were employed to determine genetic relationships among 42 persimmon genotypes (Diospyros kaki Thunb) obtained from Hatay province and 3 persimmon cultivars, 2 of which belong to Diospyros kaki Thunb and one belongs to Diospyros oleifera Cheng.

From Genomics to Diagnostics: Combating the Spread of Vascular Streak Dieback in North America

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
Genome‐anchored SSR genotyping, TaqMan qPCR, and colorimetric LAMP enable complementary detection of the VSD‐associated Ceratobasidiaceae lineage in woody ornamental tissues. Together, these tools support early surveillance, laboratory confirmation, and nursery biosecurity.

An application of kernel methods to variety identification based on SSR markers genetic fingerprinting

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2011
Background In crop production systems, genetic markers are increasingly used to distinguish individuals within a larger population based on their genetic make-up.

Development of whole-genome multiplex assays and construction of an integrated genetic map using SSR markers in Senegalese sole

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
The Senegalese sole (Solea senegalensis) is an economically important flatfish species. In this study, a genome draft was analyzed to identify microsatellite (SSR) markers for whole-genome genotyping.

Structural Variations Contribute to Subspeciation and Yield Heterosis in Rice

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Yield heterosis has been extensively exploited in hybrid breeding, with intersubspecific hybrids often exhibiting the most pronounced effects. However, developing elite hybrids remains a laborious and time‐consuming process. The genetic basis of heterosis has been debated for over a century, hindered largely by the lack of high‐quality genomes.

Phenotypic and Genotypic Screening of Green Super Rice Genotypes for Submergence Tolerance at Seedling Stage

open access: yesJournal of Applied Research in Plant Sciences
Climate change threatens rice-based systems, especially in areas where crops are sensitive to temperature fluctuations. Rice production is significantly impacted by extreme weather events, and persistent and heavy rainfalls which cause floods lead to ...

High‐Contiguity Haplotype‐Resolved Genome Assembly of the Hexaploid Actinidia valvata Rootstock Sheds Light on Waterlogging Resistance Gene

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Polyploidisation, creating redundant or diverged copies of the genome, is a major driving force in plant evolution, diversification and environmental adaptation, including for the kiwifruit genus (Actinidia Lindl.). We present a high‐contiguity, haplotype‐resolved genome assembly of the hexaploid Actinidia valvata rootstock cultivar ...

A Repertoire of Major Genes From Crop Wild Relatives for Breeding Disease‐Resistant Wheat, Rice, Maize, Soybean and Cotton Crops

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Global food demand is predicted to rise anywhere from 59% to 98% by 2050 because of increasing population. However, the continued depletion of natural resources and increasing biotic and abiotic stresses will continue to pose significant threats to global food security in coming years.

Diversity analysis of sugarcane genotypes by microsatellite (SSR) markers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology Research, 2013
Thirty (30) simple sequence repeat (SSR) primer pairs chosen randomly from the SSR primer collection were used to detect polymorphism in 17 sugarcane accessions. A total of 62 DNA fragments were generated by the 30 primers with an average of about 2.14 bands per primer. Bands that a primer yielded in the study ranged from 1 to 4.

Genetic and Phenotypic Diversity of European Triticale: GWAS of Yellow Rust Resistance and Agronomic Traits

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Triticale (x Triticosecale Wittmack) is an interspecific hybrid of wheat and rye. It is a promising grain and forage crop that thrives in poorer soils and low‐input farming systems. It can serve as a viable alternative to traditional small grains such as wheat and barley, bringing diversity to crop rotations and enhancing biodiversity in ...
