We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Sucrose constitutes a non-toxic, biodegradable, low-cost and readily available natural product. To expand its utility, we developed total synthesis for a ligand based on a sucrose scaffold for potential use as a metal chelation agent. The designed target

Conductometric Studies of the Thermodynamics of Complexation of Zn2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Pb2+, Mn2+, Cu2+ Ions with 1,13-Bis(8-Quinolyl)-1,4,7,10,13-Pentaoxatridecane in Binary Solvent Mixtures [PDF]
The complexation reaction between 1,13-bis(8-quinolyl)-1,4,7,10,13-pentaoxatridecane (Kryptofix5) ligand with Zn2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Pb2+, Mn2+ and Cu2+ ions were studied conductometrically in different AcetoNitrile-NitroMethane (AN-NM) and AcetoNitrile ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Study of voltammetry behavior of complexation for nano-copper sulfate (NCSu) with cefdinir antibiotic (CFD) using glassy carbon electrode (GCE) in mixed 5% v/v (DMF-H2O) solvents [PDF]
Cyclic voltammetry of nano-copper (II) complex (NCSu) with Cefdinir antibiotic (CFD) was studied using a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) in 0.1M KCl as a supporting electrolyte in 5% (v/v) mixed (DMF-H2O) solvent at two temperatures (298.15, 303.15 K).
