Experimental combustor study program [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Advanced combustor concepts are evaluated as a means of accommodating possible future broad specification fuels. The three advanced double annular combustor concepts consisted of (1) a concept employing high pressure drop fuel nozzles for improved ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Design considerations for Factorial Adaptive Multi-Arm Multi-Stage (FAST) clinical trials

open access: yesTrials
Background Multi-Arm, Multi-Stage (MAMS) clinical trial designs allow for multiple therapies to be compared across a spectrum of clinical trial phases. MAMS designs fall under several overarching design groups, including adaptive designs (AD) and multi ...

Design of Deep Learning-Based Pressure Injury Stage Classification Device

open access: yesJurnal Rekayasa Elektrika
Pressure injury or pressure ulcers could occur due to continuous pressure on the bony prominence of the skin and tissue. Geriatric patients, especially those with limited mobility and several comorbidities, are more susceptible to pressure injury.

Single-stage experimental evaluation of tandem-airfoil rotor and stator blading for compressors, part 8 [PDF]

open access: yes
An experimental investigation was conducted with an 0.8 hub/tip ratio, single-stage, axial flow compressor to determine the potential of tandem-airfoil blading for improving the efficiency and stable operating range of compressor stages.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
