Sensitivity of Diagnostic Tests for Dry Eye in Patients with Blepharospasm

open access: yesActa Clinica Croatica, 2017
The aim of the study was to evaluate diagnostic tests for keratoconjunctivitis sicca (Schirmer test, tear break-up time (TBUT) test, and corneal staining with fluorescein and lissamine green dye) in patients with blepharospasm.

Specific fluorescent labeling of chicken myofibril Z-line proteins catalyzed by guinea pig liver transglutaminase [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Guinea pig liver transglutaminase has been found to catalyze the covalent incorporation of dansylcadaverine into chicken skeletal muscle myofibril proteins.

Semi-Automatic Labeling and Semantic Segmentation of Gram-Stained Microscopic Images from DIBaS Dataset

open access: yes2023 2nd International Conference on Computational Systems and Communication (ICCSC), 2023
In this paper, a semi-automatic annotation of bacteria genera and species from DIBaS dataset is implemented using clustering and thresholding algorithms. A Deep learning model is trained to achieve the semantic segmentation and classification of the bacteria species. Classification accuracy of 95% is achieved.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

CHROMOENDOSCOPY USING TOLUIDINE BLUE PLUS LUGOL’S SOLUTION FOR EARLY DIAGNOSIS OF ESOPHAGEAL PREMALIGNANT LESIONS AND SUPERFICIAL NEOPLASMS IN HIGH-RISK PATIENTS

open access: yesArquivos de Gastroenterologia, 2019
BACKGROUND: Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common cancer. The prognosis is bleak in patients with advanced stages. Patients with early disease have a better prognosis than those with advanced stage.

Single-Cell Labeling Strategies to Dissect Neuronal Structures and Local Functions

open access: yesBiology, 2023
The brain network consists of ten billion neurons and is the most complex structure in the universe. Understanding the structure of complex brain networks and neuronal functions is one of the main goals of modern neuroscience. Since the seminal invention

Levels of Ca\u3csub\u3ev\u3c/sub\u3e1.2 L-Type Ca\u3csup\u3e2+\u3c/sup\u3e Channels Peak in the First Two Weeks in Rat Hippocampus Whereas Ca\u3csub\u3ev\u3c/sub\u3e1.3 Channels Steadily Increase through Development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Influx of calcium through voltage-dependent channels regulates processes throughout the nervous system. Specifically, influx through L-type channels plays a variety of roles in early neuronal development and is commonly modulated by G-protein-coupled ...

Novel components of the Toxoplasma inner membrane complex revealed by BioID. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
UNLABELLED:The inner membrane complex (IMC) of Toxoplasma gondii is a peripheral membrane system that is composed of flattened alveolar sacs that underlie the plasma membrane, coupled to a supporting cytoskeletal network. The IMC plays important roles in

Label- and slide-free tissue histology using 3D epi-mode quantitative phase imaging and virtual H&E staining

open access: yesArXiv, 2023
Histological staining of tissue biopsies, especially hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, serves as the benchmark for disease diagnosis and comprehensive clinical assessment of tissue. However, the process is laborious and time-consuming, often limiting its usage in crucial applications such as surgical margin assessment.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.
