Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

CFD Analysis of Underwater Standard Penetration Test Equipment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Technology, 2012
In our study, a closed-type penetration unit for standard penetration test (SPT) equipment was developed in order to operate in an underwater environment. This type causes energy dissipation, mainly due to the small gap between an airtight case and moving hammer. The dissipation was estimated through a CFD analysis.

Pengaruh Tipe Gradasi Agregat Terhadap Sifat Beton Aspal Dengan Bahan Pengikat Aspal Pertamina Pen 60/70 Dan Aspal Starbit E-55 Campuran Ac-wc [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Pavement earlier damage in Indonesia was generally due to overloading, repetition of traffic loading, and climatic change. To overcome these main factors, the quality of asphaltic concrete need to be improved properly.

Broadband Internet and Social Capital

open access: yes, 2018
We study how the diffusion of broadband Internet affects social capital using two data sets from the UK. Our empirical strategy exploits the fact that broadband access has long depended on customers' position in the voice telecommunication infrastructure

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Study on the detection method of holes in composite insulator rods

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2021
The holes in composite insulator rods are a type of quality defects. However, not all holes can be identified by the dye penetration test according to existing standards and some holes can cause abnormal heating of the composite insulator during ...

Investigation into the effect of uncertainty of CPT-based soil type estimation on the accuracy of CPT-based pile bearing capacity analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Cone Penetration Test (CPT or CPTu) is commonly used for estimating soil types and also for the geotechnical design of pile foundation. However, the level of agreement between the CPT-based soil types and the traditional identification of soil types ...

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Balltracking: an highly efficient method for tracking flow fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We present a method for tracking solar photospheric flows that is highly efficient, and demonstrate it using high resolution MDI continuum images. The method involves making a surface from the photospheric granulation data, and allowing many small ...

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...
