The Tim-3-Fyn-STAT3-C/EBPβ pathway mediates Arg-1 and IL-10 expression in MDSCs following T. gondii infection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
(A) Western blot analysis and statistical analysis of the expression of STAT3, phosphorylated (p)-STAT3, C/EBPβ, Arg-1, and IL-10 in MDSCs treated with αTim-3 or artificial recombinant galectin-9 (rGal-9) during T. gondii infection.

STRA13 Interacts with STAT3 and Modulates Transcription of STAT3-dependent Targets

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Biology, 2004
STRA13 is a pVHL-dependent bHLH transcription factor up-regulated on the mRNA level in multiple cancer cell lines and implicated recently in the regulation of immune cell homeostasis and autoimmunity. In searching for STRA13-interacting proteins with oncogenic potential by the yeast two-hybrid screening, we identified STAT3β as a STRA13-binding partner.

SCARA5 inhibits oral squamous cell carcinoma via inactivating the STAT3 and PI3K/AKT signaling pathways

open access: yesOpen Medicine, 2023
Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a common tumor in the world. Despite the rapid development of medical care, OSCC is also accompanied by high incidence and mortality every year.

Upregulation of TPX2 by STAT3: Identification of a Novel STAT3 Binding Site

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
TPX2, a protein involved in mitosis, is considered a good marker for actively proliferating tissues, highly expressed in a number of cancer cells. We show the presence of high-affinity binding site for STAT3 in the 5'-flanking region of the Tpx2 gene, which is in vivo bound by activated STAT3. A specific STAT3 peptide inhibitor represses the expression

The nuclear events guiding successful nerve regeneration

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2011
Peripheral nervous system (PNS) neurons survive and regenerate after nerve injury, whereas central nervous system (CNS) neurons lack the capacity to do so.

Perspective: mitochondrial STAT3 in cardioprotection

open access: yesBasic Research in Cardiology, 2023
AbstractActivation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) has been identified as a key cardioprotective signal not only in animal studies but also in humans—in animals, STAT3 is causally involved in cardioprotection. In response to late ischemic conditioning, canonical function of STAT3 activation upregulates the expression of ...

Multipotent neurogenic fate of mesenchymal stem cell is determined by Cdk4-mediated hypophosphorylation of Smad-STAT3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Cyclin-dependent kinase (Cdk) in complex with a corresponding cyclin plays a pivotal role in neurogenic differentiation. In particular, Cdk4 activity acts as a signaling switch to direct human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to neural transdifferentiation.

The nontoxic natural compound Curcumin exerts anti-proliferative, anti-migratory, and anti-invasive properties against malignant gliomas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: New drugs are constantly sought after to improve the survival of patients with malignant gliomas. The ideal substance would selectively target tumor cells without eliciting toxic side effects.

Shikonin alleviates asthma phenotypes in mice via an airway epithelial STAT3-dependent mechanism

open access: yesOpen Medicine
Asthma is an inflammatory disease where the balance between Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg plays a crucial role in its pathogenesis. Shikonin is used to treat a variety of autoimmune diseases due to its good anti-inflammatory activity.
