Glioblastoma stem cell-derived exosomes induce M2 macrophages and PD-L1 expression on human monocytes

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2018
Exosomes can mediate a dynamic method of communication between malignancies, including those sequestered in the central nervous system and the immune system.

STAT3 single nucleotide polymorphism rs4796793 SNP does not correlate with response to adjuvant IFNα therapy in stage III melanoma patients

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2014
Interferon alpha (IFNα) is approved for adjuvant treatment of stage III melanoma in Europe and the US. Its clinical efficacy, however, is restricted to a subpopulation of patients while side effects occur in most of treated patients.

Blockade of Stat3 oncogene addiction induces cellular senescence and reveals a cell-nonautonomous activity suitable for cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2020
Stat3 is constitutively activated in several tumor types and plays an essential role in maintaining their malignant phenotype and immunosupression. To take advantage of the promising antitumor activity of Stat3 targeting, it is vital to understand the ...

Eriocalyxin B Inhibits STAT3 Signaling by Covalently Targeting STAT3 and Blocking Phosphorylation and Activation of STAT3

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2015
Activated STAT3 plays an important role in oncogenesis by stimulating cell proliferation and resisting apoptosis. STAT3 therefore is an attractive target for cancer therapy. We have screened a traditional Chinese herb medicine compound library and found Eriocalyxin B (EB), a diterpenoid from Isodon eriocalyx, as a specific inhibitor of STAT3.

Stat3 beta mitigates development of atherosclerosis in apolipoprotein E-deficient mice

open access: yes, 2014
The transcription factor Stat3 is an activator of systemic inflammatory genes. Two isoforms of Stat3 are generated by alternative splicing, Stat3 alpha and Stat3 beta.
