Salinity and its variability in the Lagoon of Venice, 2000–2009

open access: yesAdvances in Oceanography and Limnology, 2014
Yearly averages computed from monthly and bimonthly salinity data collected between 2000 and 2009 from 13 broadly spaced stations in the Venice Lagoon were analysed in view of 30 min data collected semi-continuously during 2009 at nine similarly located ...

Steady state analysis of balanced-allocation routing

open access: yes, 2002
We compare the long-term, steady-state performance of a variant of the standard Dynamic Alternative Routing (DAR) technique commonly used in telephone and ATM networks, to the performance of a path-selection algorithm based on the "balanced-allocation ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Pre-Steady-State and Steady-State Kinetic Analysis of Butyrylcholinesterase-Catalyzed Hydrolysis of Mirabegron, an Arylacylamide Drug

open access: yesMolecules
The β-adrenergic drug Mirabegron, a drug initially used for the treatment of an overactive bladder, has new potential indications and is hydrolyzed by butyrylcholinesterase (BChE).

Liver dysfunction in steady state sickle cell disease

open access: yesAnnals of Hepatology, 2005
The Liver is one of the organs involved in the multiorgan failure that occurs in sickle cell disease, the pathophsiology of liver disease in this condition is complex because of the interrelated multifactorial causes.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell
